The Act of Gratitude

Updated: Jun 18, 2021

How often do you show gratitude to other people and certain things? Reflect over this and answer yourself. Showing gratitude to people goes a long way to strengthen your relationship with them.

We are in a new year and I know some people are cutting some friends off. You might have done that already but before it gets too serious, think about all the time you spent with that individual or those people. You cutting them off is probably not as a result of their inability to be the kind of friends you expected them to be; it might also be as a result of something you failed to do or see.

Sometimes, our inability to show these people gratitude is what ruins our friendship with them and sometimes it is the other way round.

Some people are quite sensitive about gratitude and once they do something for you and you fail to acknowledge that, it becomes a whole different issue. Your friends are not God for them to understand what you are going through. And though some of them will understand you, it does not hurt to say “Thank You” even when you are being sarcastic.

Even God requires gratitude from us and that is why He tells us in His Word to GIVE THANKS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES. Now, this is something that some people have great difficulty doing. For instance, you are going through a particular time in your life where everything seems to be going wrong yet you go to church and your pastor tells you to give thanks to God, you speak to friends who you expect help from and all they can tell you is “Give thanks to God”, you read your Bible and that is the same message to receive. That is because God is the only one who knows what is best for you. To you, it is that worst thing that could ever have happened to you but to God, it is the best thing that could ever have happened to you because He knows something better is coming your way.

All I want anyone who reads this blog post to understand is that showing gratitude is a key aspect in our lives. When you rise to a prominent position, do not forget to show gratitude to those who helped.

THOSE YOU MET ON YOUR WAY UP ARE THE SAME PEOPLE YOU WILL MEET ON YOUR WAY DOWN AND IF YOU FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEM WHEN YOU WERE UP THERE, DO NOT EXPECT THEM TO GIVE YOU ANOTHER PUSH UPWARDS; BUT IF THEY DO THEN YOU SHOULD BE WISE ENOUGH TO REALIZE THAT THEY ARE GEMS THAT SHOULD NOT BE LOST. STAY BLESSED AND HAVE A WONDERFUL YEAR.
