Vaccination Rant (I shouldn't have to write this but here you go)

Disclaimer: This is not a jab to anyone who hasn’t taken the vaccine or anyone who thinks the whole pandemic is a hoax. But if after two years you still need to be convinced that the virus is real, then I don’t know what’s up with you.
In the year 2020, the whole world was hit with a pandemic that put a halt on all activities. Schools were closed down and students had to result to online lectures to complete the academic year. Businesses collapsed and many people also lost their jobs.
Gradually, we learned to adjust to living with a global pandemic till various vaccines were prepared and administered to people. Now, there have been a lot of speculations regarding these vaccines; some called it 666 and others said it was a ploy by the Western World to get rid of more Africans that the pandemic wasn’t able to get rid of.
Here in Ghana, quite a number of people have taken their COVID shots which is what all the vaccines are being collectively called and a few weeks ago, I visited a hospital to also get vaccinated and as my mother says “protect myself and the family”. Now, I have heard all the hullabaloo about taking the vaccine. Some say that people have died and there have been several videos showcasing various side effects of getting vaccinated but I thought nothing of that and trust me, I still don’t.
Before leaving home that morning, I spoke to a friend and told him that I was going to get vaccinated and I was hit with “Is the pandemic even real?” When the pandemic first came about, many asked that question too and there were a lot of speculations about that. One would think that after two years of living in a world with a pandemic, no one would even think of asking such a question. People have died because of this virus; businesses have collapsed and many have been left jobless. Not to mention the fact that many countries' economic structures have been affected.
“Are you not scared of dying?” This is another question that has been on the lips of many Ghanaians and my friend asked this question too. I don’t have proof that people are dying from the vaccine nor have I seen anything of that sort but if anyone has proof of that, I would love to see it.
This post is not going to end with me telling you to get vaccinated. If you’re old enough to read and understand this, then I bet you’re old enough to do your research and make your decision.
